IWIN EDG2S Non Nuclear Soil Electric Density Gauge
The IWIN EDG2S is a non-nuclear soil electrical density meter used to measure soil compaction and density. It is a handheld device that uses electrical impedance technology to determine soil properties.
The ground foundation modeling process is aborted and non-destructive testing is actually done using electromagnetic technology, further reducing test time and increasing data accuracy.
The operation of EDG
- The soil model is a combination of electronic soil data and user-entered physical soil data and is the basis for testing soil parameters in a typical area of similar soil.
- For the soil model, the EDG is required to collect the electronic signal at different test points (the test points of this soil model are called soil tests). Each test point must receive an electronic signal. The maximum dry density of the soil measured in the laboratory is then fed into the instrument so that the electronic data correlates with the physical data.
- At least three checkpoints (soil test) are required when making a soil model. The more test points, the more representative the model is. In addition, the larger the range of density and water content covered by the test points, the more accurate the soil model will be.
- After completing the soil model, the EDG can be used for field testing. The experimental area is the area with the same mechanical and physical characteristics as the experimental soil that the experimenter intends to test.
- Clay molds are usually made for different test areas. Different projects require different floor molds. Once the soil mold representing this area has been successfully fabricated, the soil properties of any test point can be quickly and accurately determined by EDG through field testing.
- The experiment itself corresponds to the physical properties of the soil calculated from the electronic data collected at the test site after comparing the soil models.
