MEGGER UHF PD Detector HANDHELD ONLINE PD SUBSTATION SURVEYING SYSTEM
The UHF PD detector is the ideal tool for quick and non-invasive surveying in MV and HV substations and should be part of the toolbox of all maintenance and service teams. Due to its high measurement bandwidth, the UHF method provides accurate partial discharge (PD) measurements on HV components such as cable terminations, surge arresters, voltage transformers, and insulators.
Component failure in a substation has serious repercussions. It has the potential to cause injury, damage, and unplanned outages, which result in significant disruption and cost. Predictive condition assessment aims to identify faults developing in electrical equipment so that they can be addressed before failure.
Dual measurement channels allow the comparison of two phases or two types of UHF sensors, which further increases the range of use of the UHF Tuner. MV switchgear surveys can also be performed using a radio frequency in conjunction with a wide selection of TEV and HFCT sensors.
The Phase Resolved PD Pattern
(PRPD) the display helps identify the nature of the defect and, most importantly, distinguishes noise from the PD signal. Noise can affect PD readings, which can lead to misinterpretation of results and unnecessary component replacement. The ability of the Megger UFH PDD to handle noise ensures a true reading from PD and eliminates false positives, identifying only faulty components for replacement.
