Kehui T-907L Power Cable Fault Locator

The Kehui T-907L Power Cable Fault Locator is a portable and easy-to-use device designed to pre-locate various types of faults in low, medium, and high-voltage power cables. This fault locator is especially effective in identifying open circuits, short circuits, low-resistance, high-resistance, and flashover faults. The Kehui T-907L can operate in four different modes, including Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR), Secondary/Multiple Impulse Method (SIM/MIM), Decay Method, and Impulse Current Method (ICM). It is often used with a surge generator, such as the T-305E or T-305-16, to break down high-resistance faults for pre-location purposes.

How it Works

A power cable fault is unlikely to exhibit sufficiently low resistance to allow a TDR pulse to be reflected. The TDR injects an impulse onto the cable and compares the reflection from the cable before and during the arcing. The deviation of the signals (D) represents the distance to the fault position based on time and a known pulse propagation velocity. This technique allows the approximate part of the fault to be determined. The exact location will then be identified through pinpointing.
