The Hioki 3287 digital clamp meter is an auto and manual ranging multimeter with true RMS detection for measuring current, voltage, and resistance in electrical test applications, particularly in low-current installations such as combined heat and power plants and energy-saving inverter devices. It has a clamp that measures AC (alternating current) and DC (direct current) up to 100 A (amperes).

The clamp has two jaws that can close around an electrical conductor up to 35 mm (1.38 in) in diameter to measure current without touching or breaking the circuit. Each jaw can open and close independently and is 10mm (0.39 inches) thick to fit between closely spaced conductors. A set of test leads is included to measure ac and dc voltage up to 600V and resistance up to 42 MΩ (megohms).

The meter has a rotary switch to select the property to be measured and a 4199-count LCD display. To simplify documenting readings and taking readings in tight spaces, the data hold feature holds the last reading from on the display after it is disconnected from the circuit. A continuity buzzer confirms that the circuit is conducting.

The device is powered by a single CR2032 battery and will automatically turn off after 10 minutes of non-use to conserve battery life. It has a low battery indicator that shows when the battery needs to be replaced.
